About:
Mixed media artist and painter from St. Louis, MO with a BA in Fine Arts and minor in Psychology from Greenville College, IL.
My process started with photography. I struggled with the authenticity of the perfect technological reproduction of a photograph. Yet, when I painted over a photograph, it became an original object, meaning it can no longer be perfectly reproduced. It created a new sense of presence. This experimentation sparked my interests in the possibilities and purpose of presence. Painting forces me to be present and understand my material. Finally, the purpose of painting, to me, becomes a meditative process of self-editing and self-refining that includes applying, destroying, and layering.
